Netlify
Cloud platform for web projects that automates builds, previews, and serverless compute from Git repositories.
What it is
Netlify is a managed cloud platform for frontend development workflows, continuous integration, and serverless hosting. Developers connect a Git repository, and the platform detects the framework and triggers automated builds and deployments. Besides serving static assets over a global edge network, the platform supports Netlify Functions for backend logic and server-side processing, with no dedicated servers to maintain.
When it fits
Netlify fits projects built on popular web frameworks, such as Astro, Next.js, Remix, and Vite. Teams can use Deploy Previews, which create a Deploy Preview URL for each pull or merge request, to review changes before they reach production. It suits content-driven sites, documentation portals, marketing landing pages, and web apps that combine client-side rendering with serverless endpoints.
What to watch
Under Netlify's credit-based pricing, production deploys, compute, form submissions, bandwidth, and web requests all draw from one shared credit balance. The free plan has hard monthly limits that cannot be exceeded. On paid plans, auto recharge (disabled by default) can refill the credit balance. New projects on credit-based plans start private by default and become accessible on public domains only after the owner publishes them.
